About Me

My name is Daria Afshar and I am a lifestyle, travel, and fashion blogger/content creator, sharing my passion for travel, life and human connections, and the journey of exploring different parts of myself and this world in my early 20s. 

Being a first-generation American with two parents who come from diverse backgrounds, I was exposed to the notion of culture throughout my entire upbringing. And although I didn't appreciate it until I got older - I mean who wants to visit the Louvre as opposed to Disney Land at age 4?! - I realize how fortunate I was and these young experiences shaped me into who I am today. Traveling through the U.S. and other counties, visiting countless museums (which I dreaded growing up!), listening to the languages and upbringing of my dad who grew up in Iran, and my mom who grew up in the former Soviet Union (talk about another world!), studying ballet professionally and being exposed to its global world throughout most of my adolescence, living in Germany for two years and learning yet another way of life - these are just a few things that made my upbringing different from most in my neighborhood and school in the American Midwest. My love for arts, cultures, and travel has manifested into a passion that I cannot contain, and I want to share it with you.

As I've gotten older, my childhood experiences have not only developed into a deep love for travel, but one for living my fullest life. As someone with a degree in Merchandising from Indiana University who was planning to work in corporate America right out of college, I took a detour and decided I wanted to spend some time exploring this world and building a business I was passionate about. I have intertwined my love for storytelling, photography, film, fashion, and travel all in one place thanks to social media and the internet. I spend half of my days creating, writing, and working on my own business, and the other half waitressing at a local restaurant to help pay for my travels and lifestyle. While this way of living may not be ideal for someone else with a college degree, it allows me the freedom to work towards something that I am truly passionate about.

One of my biggest goals in my life is to see as many beautiful corners of this world as I can. I believe getting out of the comfort of our homes, traveling, and educating ourselves on other cultures, is crucial to building a better world. It is humbling, intimidating, exposing, and beautiful. It is one of the greatest gifts of the human experience.

This blog is a space for me to reminisce and reflect on moments in my life, share my love for this breathtaking world, help others pursue their traveling dreams, and be authentic about the experience of building a business and exploring the endless possibilities that exist when we take risks and start believing in ourselves.
